Contributos para o ensino do Português para Fins Específicos em Timor-Leste: a área da saúde
Abstract
Despite the growing interest in the investigation of the teaching-learning process of Portuguese as a non-native language for specific purposes (business area, legal area, among others), studies that report us the challenges faced in another area of extreme relevance and no less challenging (the health area), are still scarce. More scarce, even non-existent, are the studies that focus on the teaching-learning process of the Portuguese language for specific purposes, in the health area, in the context of East-Timor. In view of this void in this research area, which also translates into the absence of didactic materials in the market, the main objective of this article is to reflect on the teaching-learning process of Portuguese as L2 for specific purposes, in East-Timor, in the health area, based on our teaching experience within organizations such as the East-Timor Red Cross and the Cuban Medical Brigade. Based on a diagnosis of needs, conducted on the ground, we tried to draw some guidelines that we consider essential for the future of the Portuguese language teaching, in this particular field, highlighting the importance of conducting further research in an area still unexplored.
